Meshing generation strategy for prediction of ship resistance using CFD approach

Abstract CFD is a numerical approach used to solve fluid problems. In the simulation process, meshing stage crucial produce high accuracy. Meshing process where geometric space of an object broken down into many nodes translate physical components that occur while representing object’s shape. The research objective was analyze characteristics mesh technique in Finite Volume Method (FVM) using RANS ( Reynolds - Averaged Navier Stokes ) equation. three techniques, namely overset mesh, morphing and moving mesh. k-ε turbulent model VOF Fluid were water air phases. showed pattern under experimental testing. This difference value results, by method, resistance 8% at high-speed conditions, trim 11%, heave with method 14% low speed. conclusion reported had better than other methods.
